Jacqulin is an Outstanding Student

Jacqulin and one of her teachers, Ms. Tisdale.

Jacqulin goes to Freedom Intermediate School. This school is just for 5th and 6th grade and Jacqulin has been awarded an Outstanding Student both years she has attended this school. We are so proud of her. There were only 5 kids from her team that were given this honor.

Redondo Beach

The kids and I spent the last day at the beach. Bert spent the last day running from VW store to VW store. He was like a little kid in a candy store. Personally, I think the kids and I had more fun.
By the way, those are not my feet - thank the Good Lord!!!

Universal Studio

Shreck and Fiona having a moment.

Jacqulin, Dora and Me. When Jacqulin was little I always thought she looked a little like Dora. She grew up to be much prettier.

Even the line for the Back lot tour had gorgeous views. The park is incredibly small compared to Florida theme parks but beautiful scenery from just about any line. Funny thing, this is not man made scenery! Ha!

The Blues Brothers

Mel's Diner. Jacqulin and I discovered their Macaroni and Cheese - Wow!

Jacqulin using the phone in London... oops, no that's just a movie set.

Night out at Universal's City Walk

Jacqulin, Spencer and Luke on the walkway to Universal's City Walk. We were all eating dinner together after the guys played. It was only about 7:30 p.m. in California. Boy, our schedule is going to be really messed up when we get home.

Jacqulin and the Bubba Gump Shrimp. Run Forest, run!!!

It takes a few minutes to get a table when there are so many to eat dinner. Pictures from the wait.

Doing what you were created to do!

There is something fabulous about doing what you were created to do. I know it feels satisfying to be doing something you know God created you to do but, from the outside looking in it's magical.

This is Alexis Cruz, he works with the youth bands at our church. He has his Master's in Jazz Piano! and he works with my kids every week. How does that happen?

This week we were in Hollywood, CA at Universal studios at a conference called MusiCalifornia! The band were all guys from our church. What a kick it was to see Bert playing drums and Luke playing percussion. How often do kids get to work side by side with their dads? I'm not even sure that they realize what a great opportunity this was.

Luke can absolutely drive me crazy. But look at this kid. He's hilarious and he really has so much fun. He was excited to be in California and to be at Universal Studios, and to be playing music and, actually at the moment this picture was taken... he was glad we were going to eat dinner!

HOLLYWOODLAND

You know the sign originally was Hollywoodland and was an advertising gimick. Luke and Bert saw it from the plane on the way in but Jacqulin and I were on the other side of the plane and didn't get to see it. We were determined today to get a good look.

Bert and I pretending we came to California by ourselves. Who is that annoying kid creeping into our picture??... oh, he's ours.

Hey, guess what? You set a GPS to find something and it will get you there!! I knew we couldn't walk up to the sign from the street but the GPS took us as close and it could. When I entered Griffith Park as the next destination I guess the GPS unit decided it would be fun to go thru some extreme neighborhoods. The roads were barely wide enough to get one car through. The garage doors and front doors were on the curb.

Wouldn't that be against code's anywhere else?

By the way, we've acquired a new child, Spencer, one of Luke's friends. His dad is the music leader at this conference. He's been everywhere with us. It's nice to have a good kid tag along that doesn't aggravate Jacqulin in the process.

Easter with West coast family continued

Aunt Janet and Uncle Pat were our hosts for Easter dinner.
This is Aunt Janet and Uncle Pat and their son Scott with his wife Marizka and their two kids Teyah and Donovan.

Aunt Janet is my dad's youngest sister. It was great that my cousins were able to come as well. This is my Aunt Dor's daughters Terri and Tammi. It's fun for me to see and hear everyone. Not only do these people look like their Moms or sisters they sound like them too. It's quite a throw back.
Terri husband Jim and daughters came to lunch too. I guess I didn't get a good picture of the whole group.
This was a good way to celebrate Jesus coming back to life but it was also Jim's birthday. Happy Birthday Jim!!

Spring Break in Los Angeles April 3-9,2010

My Aunt Janet's house for Easter dinner. I am officially the favorite niece. First one from my side of the family to come to California and visit her. The boys loved talking to Scott about baseball and you see house close they are to the food.

Jacqulin loved playing with Teyah and Donovan.

We gave Teyah and Donovan a set of Resurrection Eggs. I think Teyah liked them.

Aunt Janet cheers Scott and Marizka on in the great dance demonstration. They were actually imitating Pat and Janet a.k.a. Panet's dance style.

There were 16 of us for dinner and it was fabulous. Aunt Janet must have cooked for days. There was so much fabulous food, the table was decorated beautifully and of course, there are these marble salt and pepper shakers from Italy... Wow!
