Our Little Model

We have a dear friend who is a commercial photographer and has heard Jacqulin's pleas about being in print. He recently held a photoshoot and invited Jacqulin to be a part. Of course, the same weekend he had the shoot we celebrated Jacqulin's birthday and were gone when they were doing the stuff geared toward kids. The day we were available Dieter had booked space at the abandoned TN state prison. Creepy. So, here are a couple of shots.

Bert's Job... Hard work but somebody's got to rock it.

Memorial Auditorium, Chattanooga, TN. May 12, 2011. Third Day in concert with Trevor Morgan and Tenth Avenue North.

My kids know that Bert is a graphic designer and they have seen his work for years. They have had an opportunity to make a little cash here and there lamenating backstage passes. But it's a different story walking into an arena and seeing floor to ceiling banners that Bert designed. It's a completely different thing when the guys that sing in the band call your Dad by name and come up and hug him. It's a little sureal... even for Bert.

We were listening to a Q&A session with the bands and people walked in with posters Bert designed. They give them away with VIP ticket purchase.

MANDISA

Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center, Birmingham, AL 5-13-11. Second stop was at an "Extraordinary Women's" Conference feturing Mandisa. She was on American Idol, Season 5. Bert not only designs Mandisa's banners but her merchandise as well.

Jacqulin's 13th Birthday Celebration Extravaganza. 5-12-11

This is the key to everything.... the BACKSTAGE PASS!!!! (the fact that your Dad knows the band helps too.)

Mac Powell asking Jacqulin her name and how old she is...

Then they broke out in a beautiful rendition of "Happy Birthday to Jacqulin!"

Let the show begin....

Happy Faces... I love seeing my kids sing along. This is a real rock and roll band but all the lyrics point to the glory of God.

Happy 13th Birthday to Jacqulin! 5-12-11

We left Nashville by lunchtime on Thursday and headed for Chattanooga. Bert arranged for us to have backstage passes and dinner with Third Day. We ate together, at different tables if you know what I mean. Then we had an opportunity to get our pictures made with the band. Funny thing is Bert has done work for these guys off and on so they were very accomodating. When we told them it was Jacqulin's birthday they immediately broke into song. It's honestly like hearing angels sing. Then we watched the concert. Trevor Morgan, a new artist, opened and Wow! we were blown away. Then "Tenth Ave. North" sang and were great.
Bert and I have seen "Third Day" many times but I think this was the best show we've ever seen them in.

Happy Easter 2011

As the kids get older the Easter Bunny has tried to realize what they like and don't like. I think he decided that I'm such a strict Mom (yeah, right) that he could treat the kids to some things that I don't allow them to have very often. So, this year the baskets were full of chocolate Pop-Tarts, Root beer and of course their favorite candies and their mom's favorite chocolates. We colored eggs too. I am hanging on to traditions as long as I can.

Kate Middleton is @ our house

This is Kate Middleton Chia-head. Jacqulin got to make this in Science class. They were told they were making Chia-pets and they could be creative and make anything they wanted. Well, my creative Jacqulin came home, the day of the Royal Wedding with Kate. Isn't she beautiful. By the way, she's already had to have a hair cut.

My kitchen

We refinished our kitchen quite some time ago. However, I've never posted any pictures. Every once in a while I run into someone who asks if we ever finished. So, I decided to post the "after" pictures. We are really pleased with how everything turned out. It feels very personal because Bert did most all the work including setting the tile back splash.

I had my Bunco ladies over at the first of the year and they gave all the appropriate ooos! and aaaahs! The next month at Bunco one of my friends said that she doesn't covet much any more but, she wanted me to know that she covets my kitchen and wants to just sit and have coffee one morning. Wow! That made me feel so good. So here ar more pictures.
