My Christmas present is a kitchen!

So, the hardwood isn't finished and the back splash hasn't been put in but, the kitchen is functional. Everything was working and just in time for our Christmas Eve celebration with Bert's family. We had a great time visiting with everyone.

The kitchen continues....

So, the guy came to vent the hood and didn't put the chimney in straight. Bert decided to build a cover...well, that sort of grew into a little more than just a cover. I think it's going to look great.

A simple hood turns into quite the elaborate project.

Abbey was used as a nick-nack to see what would fit in the new cubby.

Dickens of a Christmas, Franklin, TN

I love how our little town celebrates Christmas. Franklin turns into a Victorian village. All the Dickens characters walk thru the street greeting everyone. Of course, there is lots to see and do. This year I got to play with the handbell choir from church.

It was chilly enough to feel like Christmas, but not too miserable. What a way to kick off the season.

Kitchen progress....

I've said it before, I will say it again, my husband is amazing and can do anything. This is a drawer from the kitchen cabinets. We looked at furniture 6 mos ago and found a finish we sort of liked. His work is much better than anything we saw in a store. The distressing he has done allows for the gold and red to shine through.

The kitchen table is in the living room.

The plans have changed so many times, but everything is set now. The holes have been patched. Just a couple more coats of mud and sanding, then we can paint.

Franklin Christmas Parade 2009

Boy was it cold outside. Beautiful day but still cold.

That's my little drummer boy. Notice his sticks, he ran red tape around them to make them look like candy canes.

Our friend, Jeannie Mackey on the Firemen's float. You never know who will turn up on a float.
Jeannie's husband, the Fire Chief, Clay Mackey, gave us extra candy.

Woooo!!! Hoooooo!!

The appliances are here!! The appliances are here!!!!

I really think we are going to be in a comfortable place with the kitchen by Christmas. Funny thing is this is my year to host the Totcky family Christmas. That's my side of the family. Bert's side of the family comes to our house for Christmas Eve. So, I would love to at least have the appliances in place.

Bert and I went to Sheffield, AL on Wednesday and picked everything out. Thank the good Lord for the internet. Bert found a company that has great deals and deliver to TN. For whatever reason we don't have to pay sales taxes. So, we saved a good amount of money. The sales man said they might be able to deliver next week. When we got home they called and said they will be here on Friday. Wooo! Hoooo!

The work crew will be here Monday morning to wire and move and install and all that good stuff.
Now, if everyone will just pray that the island will be delivered a week early I will be sitting pretty at Christmas.
