Upward Basketball and Cheerleading.

Every Saturday for 8 weeks we are at our church (usually at 1:00), Luke plays basketball and Jacqulin cheers (usually for his team). This is a great program, the kids memorize a verse of scripture every week. They are rewarded with a green star for scripture memorization and then during the game you earn another star; gold for best sportsmanship, red for the best leader, etc. The cheerleaders get star stickers to stick on their megaphones. The ball players get iron on stars to put on the sleeve of their jersey. Luke has never played basketball. For the first few practices when he came off the court he would say "this is NOT my sport!" He's always been a baseball player. I'm glad he's given it a try, he has really had a great time and has really improved.

BRACES!!!!

Luke has been a good sport today. For some reason my kids had yesterday and today off. I know that Monday was MLK day but today was just a bonus I guess. So, I scheduled the braces for 9:00 a.m. It was a two hour appointment. Aaauugh!!! How cruel can a Mom be to schedule a 2 hour orthodontic appointment on a holiday? He didn't even get to miss school.

He chose blue and red bands for the Giants football team. They were not his choice for the superbowl but he is being supportive of them now. What beter way to show your spirit than with your mouth. Just 17 more months of this. Wooo!! Hoooo!!

You can sort of follow the progression. Attaching each bracket to each tooth.

Half way there!! He needed a break!

"Mr. Slurpy" does his job.

The finished product. He practiced getting his lips around all that metal for the rest of the afternoon.

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW!!

LUKE DOING THE SNOW DANCE!!!!!!

Luke had a really busy day. I told him I would pick him up from school (never do that). We went to Sonic and I let him get cheesesticks (never do that either, I think they are the most unhealthy substance on the planet - even though they taste great) and we went and got Jacqulin out of school a bit early. He had no clue we were headed to the dentist to start the orthodontic process. He got spacers!! Wooo! Hooo! Next Tuesday we get the whole shebang! He completely freaked out in California Pizza Kitchen when one of the spacers popped off while he was eating.

All is good. On the way home it began to snow. The weather people said it wasn't going to start until much later tonight. As the pictures (with my new camera) show we got quite a nice covering. I know to people in other parts of the world this is like dandruf. But to my kids this is enough to snow ski in. At least that is the plan for tomorrow. School is usually closed by now with this amount of snow on the ground. However, the weather people on T.V. say it is going to turn to rain and be all gone by in the morning!! We will just have to wait and see.
Luke did the snow dance - Will he be successful?!?

BACK TO THE GRIND!!!!!

We are back to the ol' grind and I love it. The routine is great for us. At least it makes me feel like we are accomplishing so much. I loved the rest and relaxation we got over the Christmas break but I was ready for our world to start moving again. Of course, that being said the prayer on my lips the last few nights has been "Lord, give us restorative sleep." Sometimes I sleep and don't feel like I was in that bed for long.

Jacqulin is back to violin, Luke is back to band practice and of course homework is upon us again. Jacqulin told me last night that she has decided to plead with her teacher for less homework. She told the teacher that her Mom isn't giving her much help these days. I don't know if that is really what she said or if she's just jerking my chain. She's 9 going on 18 so I guess I should get used to it. She said her teacher still gave her a lot of homework. Hee!! Hee!

GROOVEBOX ROCKS!!

Bert is in a band called Groovebox. They played tonight at the Bunganut Pig here in Franklin. They always pack out the house. Tonight was no different. The "PIG" loves them and wants them to play at least once a month. It seems they have quite a reputation and there were several professional players there tonight checking them out. One of the guys stopped me and asked if I was with the band (I'm the girl working the tip jar so I guess it's obvious.) Anyway, he was very interested in them. It turned out he's a studio musician that plays drums for everybody.

I'm very proud of them. They are so entertaining and everyone has such a good time whenever and wherever they play.
GROOVEBOX UNITE!!!

The band is: Taylin Rae Lead Vocal
Tom Carson on Lead guitar
Bert Sumner on Drums
Dieter on Bass guitar

Do you have a Clue?

We all got great things for Christmas. I got a new camera. I don't have to ask Bert or Jacqulin to borrow theirs anymore. So now I have snapshot fever! Displayed here are some of my favorite Christmas presents: Brad Paisley tickets -Woo! Hoo!
My favorite boy under 40 years of age! Not a Christmas present but still a favorite
Clue - It was done in the kitchen by Mrs. Peacock with a wrench - or was she the one who got the wrench?
